Subedar Rajendra Prasad, Rifleman Manoj Kumar, and Rifleman Lakshmanan D were three Army soldiers who perished while shooting two terrorists who committed a suicide bombing at an Army base camp 25 kilometres away from Rajouri. They attempted to sneak into the base camp at Pargal near Rajouri in the dead of night to carry out a "fidayeen" (suicide) attack. The encounter that ensued led to the deaths of the two terrorists. A JeM fidayeen unit allegedly attempted to penetrate the Pargal Army base camp, according to reports cited by News18.
In the exchange of gunfire, two other Indian Army men were hurt. The attentive sentry working as a guard stopped the suicide attack, according to Army officials.
